The North Carolina Zoo – 11/6/14

Please join Richmond County Home Educators on Thursday, November 6th,  2014 for a trip to The North Carolina Zoo.

Where: North Carolina Zoo, 4401 Zoo Parkway,  Asheboro, NC 27205

Time: 9:30am – noon

Families wishing to carpool or caravan together may meet at 8:00am in the public parking lot adjoining Discovery Place Kids. Otherwise, meet at North America Entrance for the zoo entrance at 9:30am.

What: Families can explore the NC Zoo or conduct school lessons related to the zoo.

The zoo will send a confirmation email. Print out the email and bring it with. Electronic copies are not acceptable.

Art Day – 10/9/14

Please join Richmond County Home Educators on Thursday, October 9th 2014 for Fall Art Day.

Where: Castlewood Park, Ledbetter Rd, Rockingham

Time: 1:00pm – 3:00pm

What: Come make a beautiful place mat, or wall-hanging, using pressed leaves. Each family may provide their own pressed leaves and glue sticks.  Our home school group will cover the other materials.

Author/Illustrator Appearance – 9/25/14

Please join Richmond County Home Educators on Thursday, September 25th, 2014 for an author/illustrator appearance.

Where: Discovery Place Kids – Rockingham, 233 E. Washington St.
Rockingham, NC 28379

Time: 11:15am – 12:15pm

What: meet and greet Debbie Diesen and Dan Hanna, author and illustrator of The Pout-Pout Fish.

Other: To gain entrance to this event you must either present a membership card, or pay regular admission fees.

Debbie and Dan also will be available to sign books.

Reed Gold Mine – 9/23/14

Please join Richmond County Home Educators on Tuesday, September 23rd 2014 for a trip to Reed Gold Mine.
Where: Reed Gold Mine,9621 Reed Mine Rd, Midland, NC 28107

Time: 9:30am – 11:30am

Families wishing to carpool or caravan together may meet at 8:00am in the public parking lot adjoining Discovery Place Kids. Otherwise, meet at Reed Gold Mine at 9:30am.

What: Visit the site of the First Documented Discovery of Gold in the United States. Self-guided tour, plenty of history and panning activity with the chance to find real gold.

Other:

  • Site itself is free, but bring $3/child for a chance to pan for gold. Gold pans are heavy so plan to have adults available.
  • Picnic site with restrooms available for lunch afterwards. Only vending machines on site.

 

Vulcan Materials – 9/17/14
